ABSTRACT

These days the development of animated films became more variatif. Animated film not only as entertainment but as a media of communication and information and a media of public education as well because they have such moral messages. However, it is unfortunate Indonesia has not been able to compete with other countries in producing animated films. Many animated film that aired on Indonesian television which is a foreign animated films. Whereas the animated film is one where the process of establishing the identity of the child happen. Animated film in Indonesia is still a little bit with the theme of folklore. Whereas folklore is one of the hidden treasure of Indonesia. There are so many moral messages that are very good for children's education. But there are still many Indonesian children who does not know about Indonesia folklore. For that two-dimensional animated film "Batu Menangis" is created that can be used as a media of information and education that teaches moral values to the audience, especially for the children. The system development method used is Waterfall according to M. Suyanto and Aryanto Y that consisting of Pre-Production, Production and Post Production. The animated film "Batu Menangis" created using Adobe Flash CS6 as a base film making.
