ABSTRACTS

In the world of technology and information, the development of multimedia technology has been very rapid, it makes things possible that were not possible. The film is based on multimedia technology. Many films these days to apply visual effects in its manufacture. In the preparation and making of this thesis, the researcher decided to compose and create paper -based multimedia to create a short film with the background story of the legend of "Malin Kundang" are given a touch of visual effects by applying the technique of compositing, keying and masking that aims to introduce folklore Malin Kundang to children and certainly gives a moral message contained in the video. In the preparation of researchers using the waterfall method and multimedia development method to be easily understood and can be further developed by researchers to apply visual effects in filmmaking .
